Thanksgiving Pictures

The past couple of times my parents come to town, or I go to see them in Portland, I get sick. Even though I might not look sick in these pictures I promise I really was. It was pretty miserable, but I was determined not to miss out on the fun things my family was doing, so my sickness drug out even longer....totally worth it though! We went to the temple, went to see temple square lights, went to Skyfall and City Creek...and picked out baby blankets to make. It was a fun weekend.

Catching Up

I am the worst at blogging! So here are a bunch of pictures from my phone of what has been going on lately...
This is Charlie the Pomeranian-chihuahua mix. I owned him for a whole day and it was the greatest 8 hours ever. When I got him, I put him in the car on the passenger seat with Braden's sweatshirt (Sorry Braden). The second I put him on the seat it was his personal mission to try get over to me. I thought he just wanted to roam the car while I was driving, and so I kept trying to put him back on the sweatshirt. Finally I gave up and i let him crawl over me. As soon as he got to my lap he laid down and fell asleep instantly. Charlie was the sweetest. He would follow me everywhere. I was so sad when we could not keep him. I still talk about him everyday and I'm pretty sure no dog will ever live up to Charlie. I miss him.
Our Halloween cookies.
Morgan and I hanging out with skunks at Scheels.
My parents were in town for Thanksgiving and we went to the Salt Lake Temple with them over the break.
Our Christmas Tree.
I have been working full time this week and this is my view from work. I love the snow! Except for this morning. The car was frozen over and I couldn't open the door to the car. After yanking the door open, the inside of the windshield was also frozen...awesome. But I love the snow!
At work we have been making baby rattles for babies in an orphanage in Africa. They have little bells inside of them and I love them.

Homemade Headboard

I posted awhile back about the headboard that my Mom helped us make. It's been done since April and I love it! Thanks Mom :) This is before we put the buttons on: And after:

Perfect Picture

As I was going through pictures from this summer I realized that for every good picture we have together, we have at least 10 ridiculous ones. For example, for our year anniversary, I wanted to get at least one good picture of us together. I think I drive Braden crazy taking picture because this is what really happens when we try and take pictures... We go through all that to finally get ONE normal picture for our anniversary :)

I have a rough life

Let me just describe my day to you so far. Today I got up at 6:45am and got to work at 8:00 am. Work was extremely slow so Valeria and I planned out a camping trip we are doing next week with some friends. In the middle of this planning at work, someone brought Costco muffins and chocolate milk into the office for us. Fast forward to 10:45. I am walking to staff meeting and find a $10 bill laying in the middle of the raod. I get to staff meeting and discover that we are actually playing outside games for an hour instead of a meeting. Right after that we were fed a free lunch of sub sandwiches, chips and drinks. In an hour I am heading to seven peaks to go swimming with the husband and shortly after that we are going boating with his family...what a rough life i have :)

Today I decided to upload our pictures onto the computer from the camera. I realize that I only blog about things that I have pictures for...and I am so bad at remembering to take our camera everywhere, hence the very few blog posts. So my new goal is to take more pictures!

Valentines Day:
We both had school starting at 8:00 a.m. on Valentines Day and pretty much had school all day. So I decided I wanted to so something early. On Valentines morning, I got up at 5:30 a.m....I know, crazy especially for me! I hurried and showered and got all ready and then made him a candle light french toast breakfast. I even brought out our "margarita glasses" for the chocolate milk. Since he was still sound asleep in bed, I made a trail of Hershey kisses from the bedroom leading out to the kitchen table that had his breakfast, presents, and candle light breakfast all ready! And we both made it to class on time! Pretty sure I won't be getting up that early again anytime soon...

Braden picked me up from school around 4:00 p.m. and we headed home. When I stepped inside there was this waiting for me:

There was a dozen roses on the table with all the candles lit and one of my favorite country songs playing in the background. On the table there was also an envelope that said "Valenclue #1" on it. Basically there were clues to what we would be doing next on each clue. We went to dinner at Olive Garden, went hottubing at his parents, and even rode Zuma, our scooter, in the freezing cold snow. It was pretty fun!

On the way to Olive Garden:

Around the end of February my Mom came out to visit all of us. She stayed at our apartment. While she was here she helped us make a headboard for our bed that I have been wanting to make for awhile.

Braden slaving away while I am being his "helper"

My Handy Man:

The easiest part was actually putting all of the wood together. Putting the fabric and batting on the wood was not the fun part. I hate staple guns now. My hand had a bruise on it the next day from using it. Pretty sure there are hundreds of staples in that thing! I havent taken any pictures of the finished headboard yet, but i will soon.

Who knows what we are doing here...

On Friday Braden and I got to see Brad Paisley in concert! Opening for him was Scotty McCreery and The Band Perry. IT WAS SO GOOD!!! Okay and I am not afraid to admit that I may be a huge Scotty McCreery fan now. He is an amazing singer...and I think all the 13 year old girls that were screaming for him would also agree. Anyways even though this was my third time seeing him in concert, I still love him.

I was a little excited to get out on a hot date with the husband...sooo I think I overdressed a little for the occasion. Most people were in cowboys boots and holey shirts. I don't think many people noticed though...they were too busy filling up on beers and strapping up their overalls haha.

Before the concert:

Scotty McCreery!

Brad Paisley:

The concert was awesome! It was a late night for us married people :) We didn't get home until midnight.

Crafts

Ever since I got married I have been obsessed with making things. I love finding crafts on Pinterest and doing them on the weekends. Here are a few that I've done in the past couple months:

I had seen some decorative balls I wanted for that shelf at Hobby Lobby but they were about $10 a piece! I decided to try and make them for a lot cheaper. The shiny one is made out of sequins glued onto a Styrofoam ball. This ball took a ridiculous amount of time. The biggest is also made out of Styrofoam. I spray painted the ball black first so that the white would not show through. Then I glued pinto beans all over it. The third ball is made out of Styrofoam with twine wrapped all around it. I burned my fingers really really bad making these...but it was worth it! I made them one weekend when Braden was gone and I was all by myself watching girl movies :)

I saw this on Pinterest back in September. One day I went running and forgot that i locked the door but didn't take a key...so I was stuck outside for 2 hours before Braden would be home. So, I decided this was a good opportunity to go hunt down some twigs. We live next to the Provo River Trail so I walked over there and started looking for sticks. Now that I think about it I probably looked ridiculous. Imagine a girl in a running outfit...listening to her iPod...while trying to balance a huge amount of sticks in her arms. I was really picky about the sticks I wanted for this so I would pick up a stick and examine it to make sure it was straight enough. If it wasn't, I would throw it back on the ground. Yeah I got a couple funny looks from people. But it was free! I cut out a big donut shape out of cardboard to glue the sticks onto, and then bought this yellow fabric for the flowers! It took a lot of time and burned fingers to make those flowers.

This was the easiest thing ever to make. I just asked Braden to bring some spare wood from work. (He ended up bringing some really nice finished wood home and was a little disappointed that I just sanded it down and painted it:) He's so nice.)I bought paint for 40 cents and painted it! Then i wanted it to look a little older so i sanded the edges a little. I found the hooks at Walmart for a dollar and screwed them in! It's so much better than having my necklaces sprawled all over the dresser!
